LWG Gold Certification
All of our leather comes from tanneries holding the Leather Working Group's highest environmental rating. Here is what that means.
What is the Leather Working Group?
The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an international non-profit that independently audits tanneries on their environmental performance and responsible practices — water and energy use, chemical management, waste treatment and the traceability of the hides. Audits are repeated periodically so the certification stays current.
Why Gold?
LWG awards three tiers: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Gold is the highest, requiring top scores across every category, including full traceability of the leather supply chain. By sourcing only from Gold-certified tanneries, we can be sure our leather is produced responsibly.
What it means for your belt
Every Officine Napoli belt starts with Italian full-grain calfskin from an LWG Gold-certified tannery. So you are not only buying a belt that looks good and lasts — but one made with respect for people and the environment.
