What leather does Officine Napoli use?

We use full-grain leather sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold certified tanneries in Tuscany, Italy. Full-grain is the highest grade of leather. Cut from the top layer of the hide, retaining the natural grain. It develops a rich patina over time. Our suede belts use Soft Touch® suede, split from the same full-grain hides and lined with vitello (calf leather) for structure.

Gold is the highest tier, requiring a score above 80% across chemical management, water treatment, energy use, and full chain-of-custody traceability. Why are all buckles nickel-free?

Nickel is the leading cause of contact dermatitis in Europe, affecting roughly 15% of the population. EU directive 94/27/EC limits nickel release for items in prolonged skin contact. How are Officine Napoli belts made?

Each belt is handcrafted in Naples, Italy. The process involves cutting the leather to width, skiving the edges, folding and padding the strap, stitching with waxed thread, burnishing the edges, and applying the hardware. Machine production cannot replicate the precision of hand-finishing at this level.

How do I choose the right belt size?

Officine Napoli belts are sized by total length from tip to the buckle end. We recommend ordering a size equal to your trouser waist measurement plus 2 cm. Each belt has five holes spaced 2.5 cm apart. If you are between sizes, size up.

What belt width should I choose?

For formal and business wear, choose 2.5–3 cm. It pairs well with suit trousers. For smart-casual and everyday wear, 3.5 cm is the most versatile width, working with chinos, jeans, and casual trousers. When in doubt, 3.5 cm is the most universally wearable width in our range.
